Emily struggles with letting go of people throughout her life, and the ending reveals the extreme length she went to in order to keep Homer with her. Why do you think some people have such a difficult time accepting loss or change? Connect Emily’s actions to your own observations or experiences with people struggling to let go.

I think some people struggle with letting go of people or anything of that nature because when they lose that, they also lose their sense of security and control. he protagonist Emily Grierson takes this psychological battle to a horrific extreme by murdering Homer Baron to prevent him from leaving her. While her actions are a fictional exaggeration driven by severe isolation and trauma, the underlying resistance to change is a deeply human trait observable in everyday life.

Summary: Read the last 3 parts of "A Rose for Emily"

Reflection: I learned how far a person can go when they care about someone as much as Emily did in the story. It is a really eye-opening story.
